Made of Star Stuff Theatre Collective is looking for musicians interested in participating in our Community Sing Through project.
The idea for this project came from the realization that so many of our talented friends don’t have time to commit to performing musical theatre due to the significant time commitment involved in the typical rehearsal and performance schedules. What is The Community Sing Through?
For this Community Sing Through we plan to put together the music for an entire show in 2 days culminating with a sitz probe (Sitzprobe is a German word which means "seated rehearsal" or a full un-staged sing-through of the entire score) with a full orchestra after the second day of rehearsal. We will be performing the Hunchback of Notre Dame. We won’t be selling tickets or advertising the performance. The goal of this sing through is to learn and perform a musical theatre piece purely for the love of performing. We are looking for musicians interested in joining our orchestra!
When and where is the community Sing Through?
The Community Sing Through will be May 24th & 25th at the First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia.

This is an unpaid but unique opportunity to learn and perform a show with limited time commitment. Made of Star Stuff Theatre Collective is a non profit theatre company and this project will use the “pay what you can” model for all participants. There is absolutely no obligation to donate in order to participate, however, our costs include 3 meals, paying for the rights, materials, technical costs, and various other behind the scenes logistics in setting up this Sing Through. All staff for this event are volunteers and any additional funds will go to making new amazing events in the future! We are suggesting a donation of $40-50. However, we want the financial barrier of entry to this project to be as low as possible so this is truly a suggested donation only.
Is there a schedule?
Short answer is, we’re working on it! The dates are locked in, May 24th & 25th, 2025. We are working on exact call times but generally, we ask our participants to hold open May 24th from 9:00 - 5:00 and May 25th from 1:30-8:00. Meals will be provided and the final performance will be May 25th from 6:00-8:00
How much preparation will be required?
We’ll be working fast so any prep ahead of time will make your day that much easier and more fun. We hope to send out materials roughly 6-8 weeks in advance and would expect everyone to at a minimum look through the score at home and be familiar with it prior to arrival.
